Welcome!

Hello there…

From humble beginnings (a small workshop for refurbishing hand tools and sewing machines for charity) we have become a full-blown community-based company. We actively look to engage and support our community, offering opportunities to gain skills and widen areas of expertise.

Our Goals Are:

  • To provide volunteering and paid work opportunities. If you’re young, old, retired or looking to get back into work, there’s a place for you here.
  • We offer an opportunity for people to gain some real-world experience to expand skills like organisational and inter-personal skills.
  • To actively support community-concerned causes and to play our part in reinvigorating our town centre.

MakeItWorkshop also offer in-house repair or electrical and homeware; alongside our unique shopping experience in our Cambridge Walks HQ.

Amazing store! I bought a 1953, 9″ Bush television at the beginning of December last year from your Southport store. I have restored it and it’s working perfectly!
I decided to make a ‘fun’ YouTube video to show it off and thought you may like to see it in action: Here’s a link:

    Hello!

Roughly 2 years ago I brought in a Disney Goofy Phone for repairs. It’s 21 years old and belonged to my Nan so I was made up when you guys were able to bring it back to life for me.
Recently however, it has begun to deteriorate again (speaking is unclear at times and batteries need replacing for the animations to work) and we now no longer have a landline installed in our property so now don’t use the phone for its intended purpose. I wasn’t sure if your shop was in the business of purchasing items but I thought I’d ask just in case? Would you be interested in buying the phone to re-sell in your shop? I’d like for you guys to have it considering you helped fix it for me once before, it retains a lot of personal value to me so I’d like it to go to a good place.
I’ve tried calling today but I understand you’re closed. I’m working tomorrow and Tuesday but I could drop in on Wednesday or if someone would like to call me back or email me to discuss further that would be great. No worries if not of course!

    Kind Regards,

    Liam.

Hi there! I bought the shop record player 4+ years ago and just wanted to say it’s fantastic, still in full working order and the sound is incredible!
    Thank you so so much!

Hi Megan. Ray here. Well, if that was the ‘shop player’ as you call it, it was probably the one I donated… Really miss that one, the sound was incredible… Glad it went to a good home… Hopefully see you when you are next passing… Look for me in the bike shop, next door, MakeItCycles… I’ve moved on to more mechanical things LOL 🙂

      Hello Sheila
I hope we can help. I’ll need to run this by our in-house Media Engineer. Are you (or your grandson) in Southport? Would it be possible for you to visit us in Cambridge Walks? I’m pretty sure we have some B&O kit in the shop, now, but I am not so sure of what model number(s). If you can pop in and have a chat we may be able to help… £350 sounds an awful lot for a cartridge, but then again it is B&O LOL

      Hope to hear from you?

      Best Wishes

Thanks to Kevin,Steve and Ray (I hope I have remembered your names correctly) for opening the shop for me on Monday 11th, your “closed” day, to let me view and eventually buy a great old “candlestick” style telephone.I enjoyed my visit to the shop very much and appreciated all the help I received. I love the phone which I bought as a present and am going to be sad to give it up. Ray told me these phones were made from 1915-1918 and despite it’s great age, it works very well having been refurbished and re wired by the workshop although I haven’t worked out how to send text messages on it yet !! 🙂 Regards to everyone, and thanks again,
    From Paul McKeon.

My wife & I visited on 12th December & were impressed; a great setup with loads of potential. Even though I live thirty miles away I will visit again with the possibility of becoming a volunteer. Do yourselves a favour get down & have a look.

Is there any chance that your new electronics ‘wizz kid’ (name unknown) could make me a small pocket sized guitar amplifier with built in distortion? I would like to have it in an old tobacco or cigarette tin.

Well, that is a strange request. Mind you, having it in an old tobacco tin sounds really cool….. I shall have a word with him see what he can do 🙂

I am trying to set up something in Huyton, Knowsley. Do you have any objections to me using your model as an example, when I approached prospective sponsors.
